LeaderboardSo I’ve only been with AiC here for a few months now… Started back in March, then after 2.5 months I left for a few, but came back in August. And I’ve been looking through some of the old posts and stuff, because used to be hella busy, with traffic and comments (before my time – makes me wonder if I’m that bad a writer). Big props to Pedram for all his work back then.
One of the items I stumbled across was the fact that we had (still have technically) are some FORUMS. And it’s got me thinking… I know it would mean a lot more work to moderate it and such… but should we revive those forums?
Technically they still run, just the system is now closed to new members.
Would you like to see it revived?
Comment below…

In this article, I would like to discuss why you should use Lua. This all started with a message that recently popped up on the Lua mailing list regarding why isn't Lua more widely used? The answers went from randomness to lack of libraries to a variety of other things, but the one that resonated with me most was that there are fewer people who enjoy the do it yourself approach, which Lua fully embraces. I've come to think of Lua as the Arch Linux of programming languages. Which, almost by definition, means fewer people will enjoy Lua rather than more. So then why would you want to use Lua? In no particular order, here are some of the reasons why we use Lua to develop our product
What is ASM: ASM is an open source java library for manipulating java byte code. So it has the same purpose as Apache BCEL. As this article assumes that the reader has some knowledge of java class file format, it is advisable to read about it in here.
There are some misconceptions that shell scripts are only for a CLI environment. You can easily use various tools to write GUI and/or network (socket) scripts under KDE or Gnome desktops. Shell scripts can make use of some of the GUI widget (menus, warning boxs, progress bars etc). You can always control the final output, cursor position on screen, various output effects, and so on. With the following tools you can build powerful, interactive, user friendly UNIX / Linux bash shell scripts.

I am so impressed with Amazon's Elastic Compute Cloud service that I just don't see myself worrying over hosting or colocating servers ever again. It's cheap, it's powerful, and it makes me sound like somebody in an IBM commercial because I get to use the word 'cloud' a lot. Currently, at Famigo, we exclusively use EC2 for all production and API development instances.
